Scope and applicability

Korean software product quality certification

GS is not a universal legal prerequisite for releasing software. It may support Korean public procurement or be required by a particular tender or supply contract.

Korean certification schemes and international standards are different. A translated guide does not extend a Korean certificate to other countries. Confirm the target market, product classification and current requirements with the relevant body.

Who this is for

  • Commercial software vendors supplying Korean public institutions
  • SaaS, packaged software and embedded software developers
  • Product teams with a stable release and test environment

Documents to prepare

Product description

Document the product name, version, features, operating environment and limitations of the actual release.

User manual

Provide reproducible installation, account setup, feature operation, error handling and recovery instructions.

Feature and test environment inventory

Map features to operating systems, databases, browsers, integrations, test data and accounts.

Preparation process

  1. Confirm scope and testing body

Agree on the grade, version, environments and the body's designated scope before requesting comparable quotations.

  2. Check the product against its documentation

Resolve differences between manuals and screens, missing features, error messages and installation issues.

  3. Test, correct and review

Address laboratory findings, release patches and complete regression testing before certification review.

Timing

TTA lists an average testing wait of 10–15 days. Allow additional time for documentation, testing, corrections, regression testing and the certification decision.

Agency fees

Optional expert consulting

Expert review and consulting are optional, separately scoped services. Choose support for GS Certification based on your team's readiness and the evidence or assessment preparation you need.

  • Confirm institutional testing, assessment and registration fees separately in the contract.
  • Development fixes, clinical studies where applicable, security equipment and infrastructure operations may require separate budgets.
  • Confirm internal staffing, travel, translation, VAT, surveillance and renewal costs in the quotation.

Questions and answers

Does GS qualify us for every public contract?

No. Individual tenders still have functional, security and contractual requirements.

Are documents alone sufficient?

No. A working product and test environment are required; document preparation cannot guarantee certification.

Does certification cover future versions?

Changes may require a maintenance or recertification review. Confirm their impact with the testing body.
